Good evening! For your edification, I have posted a humble review of the young adult short story fiction collection I Love You, I Hate You, Get Lost by Ellen Conford.
Goodreads Summary: A collection of seven humorous stories reflecting the ups and downs of teenage love and life.
Original reading: Probably in middle school
Recent reading: 9/10/14-9/16/14
3/5 stars
Fluff. That's what this book is, pure fluff. I picked it up years ago, at a Scholastic Book Fair (aka the most wonderful time of the school year) and devoured it at the time. But I'm an adult now, and better suited to say that the plots of these short stories are flimsy, the girl characters completely one-dimensional, and there's no dynamic change in most of the stories.
They're cute stories, don't get me wrong. And I really liked them when I was younger. But I just don't think they stand the test of time at all. They fail as short stories on a purely functional level. That being said, teenage girls don't always want A&P, and a snotty literary buff isn't going to read a collection with a bad perm on the cover. It suits its audience. I'm just not going to keep it on my shelf any longer.
